Ecology is key to the United Pepper concept. United Pepper have rediscovered natural products, that replace and are an improvement on products made from petroleum based materials.

For example, Kapok is a naturally occurring tree-fibre. This fibre is found in the “body” of the LILI webcam. Kapok was a material used by our grandmothers for stuffing cushions that was replaced by (petroleum based) polyurethane foam. Choosing Kapok over polyurethane foam has a positive effect on local economies: this choice helps the farmers who grow the fibre.

This choice, like the choice of production methods and Fairtrade, must be longterm in order to support the effort and investment of the local producers.
