This equitable step comes out of the imbalance created by globalisation, and the power of certain countries on the electronics market. The aim of the project is not to battle globalization, but to allow all parties to benefit from it. A pro-active step allows small workshops who participate in the venture to keep up to date.
United Pepper chooses partners who adhere to a number of fairtrade crtieria. These criteria, among others, are:
•Top quality working conditions so that the work is comfortable and conforms to a hygienic and safe level.
• A fair price paid for completed work so that these workshops can develp/grow.
•Social represenation for the workers, so that they can express opinions and improve social and working conditions.
•Equality between men and women, and no child labour.
•The suppression of intermediaries so the most direct supply chain between the producer and consumer.
•Finally, United Pepper insists upon local production, carried out by local people to improve their quality of life
At United Pepper we like to retain a small structure, so as to be able to act at a local level and control the whole process.
